Guide: Shade Containers for the Patio
If you have a shady part of your patio that you’re not exactly sure how to liven up, we’ve got a few ideas. Get creative with some colorful containers, here’s how:

Try a theme
Do you have a color scheme or theme for your patio? Maybe it’s a soft but bright Mediterranean garden, or a Japanese garden with a peaceful pergola, or a breezy color palette inspired by Cape Cod. Whatever your theme, you’ll want to find complementary containers and pots for your patio.

Get creative with containers
By mixing and matching containers and pots, you’ll get a display pleasing to the eye. Different heights and sizes will hold a variety of shade plants. You can even fill large barrel pots or go smaller with quart sizes in a tiered arrangement of plant stands.

Choose shade plants
Now it’s time to get your hands dirty and fill those pots. There are many wonderful flowers and foliage plants that add tons of texture and grow in full shade. For instance, Beacon® Impatiens come in an amazing assortment of colors (Bright Red, Coral, Orange, Rose, Salmon, White, and Violet Shades) perfect for all sorts of shade containers. Mix them with other plants that thrive in full shade, such as: Coleus, Heuchera, Hostas and Begonias to create a combination full of bright blooms. By choosing different sizes and textures, you’re sure to turn heads with your patio creations!
